Garden

Since buying our first home more than 5 years ago, I’ve had a new interest in gardening. Our house had a very sparse garden (one tree, a field of weeds and a sandpit) when we moved in, and I was determined to get it looking like a nice place to spend time in. I was, of course over-ambitious and thought I could get the whole garden planted and landscaped in no time, only to realise how long gardening really takes and the hard work involved. However, after about a year of hard work, and now a few years for the garden to grow, I am very pleased with our work.

We laid and cemented our own brick edges to the grass, laid out the grass, removed the sandpit and planted all the trees and plants. We also put in 4 old apple crates that we use as our veggie patch. I created the design and layout of the garden and selected the plants (although many were killed in their early stages by our new puppy… arggg), but we got there eventually!

Here are some before and after pictures. We really enjoy this new space now as a lovely place to hang out.
